Spring Wedding Flowers

Spring is the time of year for rebirth and renewal and as such, it is the perfect time of year for couples to begin a new life together. In addition, weddings in spring should be filled with beautiful flowers.

There are many flowers in season including roses, tulips, hyacinth, lilies and Gerber daisies. Multi-colored calla lilies are very popular and look beautiful in a spring arrangement. Combine a dozen with lemon leaf or maiden hair, or create a simple hand tied nosegay. Spring is the best time of year for many flowers, but due to certain seasonal weather that may affect the growth of certain flowers, make sure you only count on the spring flowers that you know will be in full bloom. Nothing would put more stress on the bride than planning on a certain group of flowers only to find out a few days before the wedding that they are not yet in bloom.

Tulips are beautiful spring flowers that come in a variety of colors and blooming times with some starting as soon as March and others still are blooming into the summer. The same is true with narcissus. You really can't go wrong with these two flowers. Even if you have a slow growing season, you will have some variety of tulips or narcissus available for your wedding. These can be used for your bridal bouquet, your attendant's bouquets, the boutonnieres, centerpieces as well as simple decorations. There is nothing that makes a better background for spring wedding photographs then flowers or a flower garden.

Lilacs are also a seasonal plant that you are almost guaranteed to have in bloom. They make beautiful accessories to bouquets as well as being perfect for centerpieces on your wedding table. Let's not forget the wonderful scent they will add to the joyful event. Easter lilies are another flower that is used at many weddings in bouquets, centerpieces and just for decorations. Many times on spring wedding cakes, you will see decorated colored flowers matching the bouquets.

Going with fresh flowers will save you many dollars over going with a florist. If you have a friend or family member that is handy with making floral arrangements, this will work great for you. You may not be the type of person who is interested in dealing with the fresh flowers, in which case, you can order all your floral arrangements ahead of time from a florist. When dealing with a florist, you are not limited to only seasonal flowers. Another bonus is that once you've ordered your wedding day flowers, the worry is no longer yours-it's up to the florist now.

For spring wedding favors, seed packets or bulbs will always go over big. Everyone loves to grow flowers. You can make some packets flower seeds and others herbs. Many people today are into growing their own herbs and will think of your special day each time they see them. With your wedding being in the spring, chances are it's close to Easter, which will make little packs of Easter candy or pastel jellybeans appropriate spring wedding favors.
