Groom's Responsibilities

Obviously as the groom of the wedding you are going to have some responsibilities to take care of. The groom’s responsibilities range from helping to plan the wedding to paying for services and gifts.

Some of the more common groom duties include helping during the planning stage, organizing guest lists, venues, and services as well as financing the wedding, giving a thank you speech during the wedding and planning a honeymoon. This may seem daunting, but when you consider the amount of work that your bride has put into planning and organizing your wedding day, it is the least that you can do. If you are unsure of the most important groom responsibility, just be sure to pamper your bride to be. Planning a wedding can be a stressful time for her and if you ensure that she is happy and has all of the help she needs, things will go smoothly.

There is also a responsibility of the groom’s family to help out the couple with the wedding responsibilities. That could be anything from financial support to helping out by booking venues or services so that the bride and groom do not have to worry about it. It could also be something as simple as saying a speech of some sort during the wedding reception. The level of the groom’s parent’s responsibility is going to depend on the relationship that you have with them.

Among the most important responsibilities of parents of the groom is their responsibility to help pay for the wedding. The financial responsibilities of the groom’s parents are going to depend on the arrangements within your family. Sometimes they will be asked to pay for half of the wedding along with the parents of the bride. Other times the bride’s family will pay for the entire wedding if they are more traditional, or the bride and groom themselves will be paying for the wedding, which is the more common practice today.

The duties of mother of the groom can also be very small or large depending on the relationship and her ability to provide services or assistance during the wedding planning and wedding day activities. Often if the mother of the groom has a close responsibility with the bride, she will be included in selecting a dress, ordering flowers and many other bigger decisions that the bride and her mother will be making. The mother of the groom along with her husband will also most likely be asked to make some sort of speech during the wedding day.
