Maid of Honor Duties
The maid of honor duties are very important to ensuring the whole wedding experience is the best that it can be. The maid of honor is often a very close friend or family member to the bride and therefore she will be looked upon for help and advice during pretty much all parts of the wedding process. This will include pre wedding duties, duties during the wedding and post wedding duties.
Some of the most important maid of honor’s duties to the bride to be occur before the wedding itself. The maid of honor is often responsible for helping the bride during the selection of her dress, flowers and many other wedding day requirements. The maid of honor will be there when the wedding party shops for dresses and shoes to go with the bride and her dress. She is also usually responsible, along with the other bride’s maids, for hosting a bridal shower and stagette for the bride. These maid of honor responsibilities are not taken very lightly as they attribute greatly to the entire experience of getting married for the bride.
The duties of the maid of honor also extend to the wedding day itself. There are many maid of honor duties aside from the obvious wedding day responsibilities of the maid of honor such as walking down the isle, standing up at the ceremony for the bride, ensuring her train looks well and holding her flowers during the exchanging of the vows and rings. The maid of honor also needs to be present for photos after the wedding ceremony, saying a speech to the bride during the wedding reception and is often a part of the second dance in which the bride, groom, parents and wedding party usually take part.
Duties of a maid of honor often also extend past the wedding day itself. Sometimes the bride and groom will have a gift opening the day after the wedding in which guests of the wedding can come for snacks, a visit and to watch the bride and groom open gifts that they received during the wedding reception. During this time one of the duties of a maid of honor is often to write a list of all the gifts received and who gave them to the bride and groom. This list is a must so that the bride and groom can later send the appropriate thank you notes to the guests that gave a gift.
