There are many different religious ceremonies used throughout the world today, and if you wish, you can have one of your very own! Deciding whether to have a civil or religious ceremony can often be a daunting task. To give you an idea of the types of religious ceremonies that are out there, we will tell you about a small handful of inspirational religious ceremonies.

A Mayan Shaman in Maya performs Mayan religious ceremonies. In Maya religious ceremonies, there is an altar with four candles on it representing the four cardinal points, north, south, east and west. There is also a fifth candle that is dedicated to man and god and is lit by the Shaman during the ceremony. During Mayas religious ceremonies the groom will give a gift of corn and cacao seeds and the bride will give him tortillas and powder of cacao. During the ceremony, the bride and groom will be bare footed and the guests are also encouraged to do the same.

During Algonquin religious ceremonies, couples will smoke from a ceremonial pipe. Once this has been done, they have made their commitment to the creator. Even if they go separate ways, they are still considered husband and wife in the eye of the creator. Similar are the ancient Chippewa religious ceremonies, which also use dance as means of celebration.

The ancient Egyptian religious ceremonies were the first weddings in which marriage was considered a legal relationship. These ceremonies often included Egyptian religious ceremonial masks, which were used in celebrations. To the Jewish, weddings are considered Judaism religious ceremonies and can only be performed by a member of the clergy. In interesting fact is that they consider a wedding ceremony in the same religious category as a baby's circumcision.

In the case of a divorce later on, property was evenly divided while children were divided based on their sex. Sons went with their father and daughters with their mother. Yaqui ceremonies and religion have their beliefs in the deer dancer and flowers, which are said to keep evil away.
